Shannon Sheridan wrapped up her NLM Fellowship in the Libraries this month, and we sat down to talk about her experience at Drexel, what she learned from her time here, and where she’s going next.

A cybersecurity company recently discovered that a misconfigured server of Elsevier was exposing user emails and passwords in plain text for an unknown length of time. As a precautionary measure, the Libraries recommends all members of the Drexel community with an Elsevier username/password change it immediately

Research output is an increasingly valuable institutional asset, and Drexel University--with leadership from the Libraries and others--is taking a strategic approach to managing those assets.

The task of finding and recognizing Drexel research and research data is not without its challenges, and the Drexel Libraries is always looking for ways to acknowledge the many forms of scholarship that now shape the scholarly communications landscape.

The Drexel Libraries has been utilizing tools made available through an NNLM/MAR pilot program to better understand Drexel researchers' RDM practices. 

The Drexel University Libraries participated in the third annual Love Data Week event, sharing practical tips, resources and stories to help researchers use good data practices.

Academic librarians now see research data and the accompanying need to manage them as a a new objective for their services and partnerships, and Drexel Libraries staff are among them.

As more and more researchers and students need to find and interpret data, the Libraries is expanding its data-related services to fully support the needs of the Drexel community.

Drexel University Libraries has been selected as a member of the 2016 Digital Library Federation (DLF) eResearch Network, a research data management community in practice. The cohort of institutions included in this program are focused on implementing research data management services, and engaging in shared skill development, networking, and collaboration. Among the members of this year's cohort are the Universities of Pennsylvania and California-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, Rice University, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the National Institute of Health.

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has launched a new Primer Series on information management technology issues with the publication of the first primer on the topic of Research Data Management.

Over a dozen digital projects were on display at the Digital@Drexel Presentation and Showcase event on Friday, November 18th at W. W. Hagerty Library.
